SPACE RELATED SITES
Space Dot Com One of the best places to stay current with what's going on in space exploration.
NASA Home Page What more can I say. It's NASA. Bring a compass and a pot of coffee. It's still a government agency and takes skill and luck to find what you're looking for. Mountains of data.
Encyclopedia Astronautica A compilation of space vehicle data without equal. Mark Wades site is the best place to get data on that spacecraft you have heard about. If it went to the Moon or never left the drawing board, it is here. Used by major news organizations.
The Apollo Lunar Surface Journals Complete transcripts of every Apollo EVA with additional notes by the men who were there. Also maps, checklists, rare photos and video.
Contact Light A tribute to the Apollo Program from Kipp Teague. For us old guys it's loaded with nostalgia. Links to Kipp's other site, The Apollo Archive, a fantastic image and video gallery. Updated from time to time. Also includes a Lunar landing game. Try it and see if you have the right stuff or will you end up another crater on the Moon.
Jim Scotti's Apollo Page A very nice Apollo tribute. Includes 3-D pictures, links, lists and a rebuttal to those people who have seen Capricorn 1 a few too many times and think Apollo was faked.
Bad Astronomy Feeling skittish about the solar maximum. Remember the Jupiter Effect. How about 5/5/2000.Wait that's the same thing as the Jupiter Effect with a hefty dose of millennium angst tossed in. There is lots of bad information floating around about things astronomical. First Church of Shatnerology If a religion can be built around the writings of a bad science fiction writer, (Wasn't Battlefield Earth a scream) why not build one around a bad science fiction actor, in a rug to boot. Described as a lunatic millennium cult with a difference, this site is a great parody of those other people that claim to have the truth in their back pocket. Lots of links to real crackpot religions.
The Onion This on-line parody of the news reminds me what the National Lampoon use to do in the 70's and early 80's. I always get a laugh when I read The Onion
Sceptic Magazine & Skeptical Inquirer Carl Sagan said it best. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Unfortunately in this day and age critical thinking seems to be on the decline allowing the public to accept at face value claims of politicians, media personalities and pulp culture gurus. Democracy will not survive without critical thinking on the part of the people.
Urban Legends A friend of a friends next door neighbor had his kidney stolen! Really! And did you hear that Proctor and Gamble is in league with Satan himself. Yeah Right. Timeless stories that just won't go away made more incredible that people believe them.
Crank Dot Net A collection of some of the dumbest and scariest sites on the net. From holocaust denial to fake moon landing theories, creation science to communication with the dead, they're all here. Just to balance things out there are links to debunking sites also.
Alien Abductions Incorporated Looking for that close encounter but can do without the anal probe. Then your ready for ALIEN ABDUCTIONS INCORPORATED. This tongue in cheek site includes an "Abductalizer" to rate your likelihood for a face to face with ET.
